Nicholas S. Omiccioli has received degrees from Heidelberg University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Mr. Omiccioli is the recipient of many awards including winner and judge's choice in the 2007, 2008, and 2009 UMKC Chamber Music Composition Competitions, 2009 DuoSolo Emerging Composer Award, Kansas City Chorale Crescendo Competition, Brian M. Israel Prize, Ars Nova Composition Award, and the Dance Rochester! Composer/Choreographer Competition. His music has been performed by the Kansas City Chorale, DuoSolo, Society for New Music, the 65th Annual Composers' Conference at Wellesley College, Heidelberg New Music Festival, Regional and National College Music Society Conferences, as well as numerous SCI Conferences at the National, National Student, and Regional levels. As a performer, Mr. Omiccioli has played in various jazz combos, big bands, and new music ensembles around the country. He frequently performs his own compositions in both classical and electric guitar styles and collaborates with musical projects centered around improvisation and experimentation. His teachers have included Dave Hanson and Douglas Niedt for guitar and James Mobberley for composition. |
