Eric Potter has been studying and playing the drum set since he was twelve years old. In college, he studied music theory and played in several jazz groups. Mr. Potter has been a professional drummer in bands in Wichita and Kansas City for seventeen years. His experience playing rock, jazz, Latin, country, blues and R & B has molded him into a well-rounded player, a trait that he eagerly passes on to his students. As a teacher and professional player, he insists on a rudimentary foundation as a basis for instructing all of his students. Eric stresses the twenty-six standard snare drum rudiments as a way to make the transition to drum set technique easier. He has used this method since he started teaching eighteen years ago with much success. Students will study snare drum, drum set, music reading and chart interpretation from various method books as part of a learning package that will set them on a road to a life time of enjoyment playing the drums. |
